With technology developing at a record pace and kids mastering iPad's before they’re even out of diapers, it’s more important than ever to instill the love of reading in our children. The importance of getting kids to develop a love for reading early on often correlates with a love for learning, a passion for lifelong reading, and so many other positive traits that ultimately lead to the empowerment needed for success. Reading helps to develop writing skills ,strategic , analytical thinking skills and it also helps improve focus and concentration.
With this in mind we planned an activity called as 'Penning the Magnificient thoughts' to nurture the love for reading among our students & to help build their vocabulary & comprehension skills .
Our students participated in a short story writing competition on the topic 'My Favourite Book' where students gave a gist of their favourite story book. Next in line was an elocution competition where students spoke about child authors from India, Germany & Scotland. We also arranged for ' Authors open house where students dressed up as their favourite author from across the world.
It was a very enriching experience for our students which helped them develop a taste for good literature.
